President’s Message

Hello Younger Members! 😊

Welcome and thank you for stopping by our page. We’re a passionate group of young engineers committed to advancing the profession of Civil Engineering within our region, San Bernardino/Riverside. Since the early 2000s, our local Younger Member Forum focuses on bridging the gap between recent graduates and working world through providing technical tours, presentations, and networking opportunities emerging professionals. We also host a variety of events ranging from community service, K-12 outreach, and socials (see Events tab for more info).

Our enthusiastic board is dedicated to growing our group and providing an inclusive space for our members. To make this happen, we are focusing on the 3 C’s:

Collaboration: Whether this means working with other ASCE chapters or professional organizations, bringing diverse voices together is the key to making meaningful activities for our members.

Communication: This is an area where we are continually making progress in. From creating social media accounts to making lovely newsletter emails, we continue communicate consistently to our members in engaging ways.

Community: We want to provide a strong network and social outlet for civil engineers of this area. Whether you want to build your professional network, volunteer your time locally, or party with likeminded individuals, we strive to provide that space for you! At the end of the day, we’re a group of engineers who want to have fun and make friends.

I hope to see many of you at our events and at our monthly board meetings that we hold every first Wednesday of the month at 6:30 pm.

I look forward to meeting you!

bout Us

ASCE values the involvement and ideas of early career professionals and sees its younger members as the future of the Society. Younger Members help shape the profession at all levels. As members and leaders of Sections, Branches and Younger Member groups they support one another by providing individual and group resources; opportunities for professional and leadership development; community service and advocacy; and social and professional networking. Younger Member groups and councils make up a vibrant peer-to-peer network that supports early career growth and promotes life-long friendships. If you are a student, we have a section for you too.

ASCE SB/RIV YMF is within the San Bernardino - Riverside (SB-R) Branch. As the parent to SB/RIV, they assist us with events, K-12 outreach, and can give us overall guidance and funding. Above them, is LA Section, which consists of all 6 ASCE LA Section Branches (which make up most of Southern California). The LA Section reports to Region 9, which is the entire state of CA. Region 9 consists of Region Governors which help make decisions with ASCE Society and help out the sections, branches, YMFs, and student chapters. We have 5 schools that are a part of our jurisdiction and who we assist with funding and other resources.
