Alexis Mascarinas, EIT

Alexis Mascarinas is an associate engineer at Ontario Municipal Utilities Company within their Water Resources and Regulatory Affairs team where she manages the water supply assessment program, prepares periodic data reports to regulatory agencies, and plans long-term water resource studies for the City of Ontario.

With over 6 years of experience in the industry, she has also worked for companies like WSP, CWE, and Metropolitan Water District in delivering a variety of design-build and design-bid-build projects. As a young professional, she continued to support the local SBR YMF chapter holding various officer roles such as Historian, Co-practitioner for CPP, and Vice President. She is excited to join the SBR Family again as this year’s President! Alexis mentors students at her alum, Cal Poly Pomona, any chance she can get, and on her free time, you can catch her feeding her sourdough starter, singing karaoke, and watching dungeons and dragons

Alex is a Project Manager at Langan and also an alumnus of Cal Poly Pomona. He has been with ASCE as an active member since 2016.

Alexander Liu commenced his engineering career in transportation, public infrastructure and land development implementing grading, utility design, hydraulic and hydrology analysis, and storm water management for a multitude of residential, commercial and public works development projects. As a certified scuba diver, you can find Alex diving along the coast of Laguna Beach during the summer months or mountain biking during weekend all year round.

Christopher Melo

Christopher Melo is a Civil Engineer at WSP USA. Since his recent graduation from Cal Poly Pomona in 2018, Chris has gained widespread knowledge and experience in consulting with different municipalities, counties, government agencies and districts throughout California. Chris now serves as the design lead on all his projects and has extensive experience with Roadway Design, Wet Utilities (Water, Sewer, Storm), Mass Grading, Land Development, and 3D Surface Creation.

Apart from the engineering aspects, Chris also serves as the San Bernardino DPN (Developing Professionals Network) Local Office lead; in which he advances the business and culture of WSP by developing and focusing the collective energy of the emerging professionals in his office to launch initiatives and coordinate office events. In his free time, you can find Chris in front of a BBQ or stove cooking up a storm. From previous experience as Activities Chair, Chris has what it takes to be next year's Vice President.

 

 

Michael Argueta

Michael Argueta is a Job Engineer for Lane Construction, and serves as lead Paving Engineer for Lane-Security Paving Joint Venture’s (LSPJV) Pavements department at the I-10 Express Lanes Contract 1 Project in Ontario, Ca. This is the 3rd major highway design-build construction project he’s had the privilege to be a part of.

  1. Michael's current role includes planning, development of work plans, coordinating construction activities, quantity tracking, cost controlling and ensuring successful cost-effective execution of field operations. Has about 5 years of experience in management of heavy civil highway design-build projects, construction of public works projects and has also previously worked on the agency side at the County of Riverside Transportation Department. Michael is a proud Cal Poly Pomona alum, and a self-proclaimed coffee enthusiast who likes to visit new coffee shops. As last year's K-12 Outreach Chair, Michael has been continually involved with the organization's activities including presenting at Moreno Valley School District's STEAM Expo. Michael is excited to grow with the group and next year's Secretary!

Chris Sidor began his involvement with ASCE in 2015, while located in Phoenix, Arizona. In 2018 he became involved with the San Bernardino, Riverside Branch, and in 2019 he held the position of Community Service Outreach. He currently holds the title of Treasurer and looks forward to growing with the ASCE community continuing his role.

Brian Reyes P.E.

Brian is an Environmental/Solid Waste Management Engineer with SWT Engineering in Ontario, CA.  At SWT Brian practices hydrology and hydraulics, stormwater management, and solid waste engineering services including landfill closures and groundwater protection liner systems.

He graduated in 2016 from California State Polytechnic University-Pomona with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and is a licensed Civil Engineer in California, Montana, and Wyoming. In his spare time he enjoys a good hike with family, an outdoor sporting event, and will take on any challenger in ping-pong.

Matthew Jacobson, EIT, ENV SP, A.M.ASCE is a Civil Analyst with Kimley-Horn, working on development services and transportation projects across California. He has worked on projects through data collection, design, and construction documents. He graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Cal Poly Pomona in 2021.

Franco Chaij is a Civil Engineer at WSP USA, experienced in local roadway, hydrology and hydraulics, and land development. Franco also has experience in land surveying. He was a member of the ASCE student chapter at Cal Poly Pomona before graduating in 2020. Since then he has become involved in the SBR YMF and currently serves as the Cal Baptist University Practitioner. In his free time, Franco enjoys playing soccer or rugby and hanging out with his family.

Alex is a recent grad from Cal Poly Pomona Class of 2021 and is working as an assistant civil engineer for WSP. Alex has been involved with ASCE starting at the student chapter in 2018 and has been heavily involved since. During his time as Cal Poly Pomona, Alex participated and led many ASCE events and competitions for the Pacific Southwest Conference, including his 1st place win for the sustainability competition in 2021.

Alex is also drone certified and is eager to use drone technology to develop high quality photos and videos for future civil projects. Alex's interests include video production, heavy metal and dreamy music, and Dance Dance Revolution.
